What is it?
Trades, Toxins, and Tobacco is a program designed to increase the awareness of post-secondary trades students to the dangers of tobacco, particularly when combined with the toxins they encounter in their jobs. This 45-minute workshop provides tips and strategies about how to quit, as well as information on accessing effective, affordable cessation services.

The workshop was developed for anyone to facilitate. Background information required to facilitate the workshop is included and no special knowledge or skills are required.

The ideal facilitators for this workshop include campus healthcare / health promotion staff and faculty, nursing students and trades instructors.
Who developed it?
Developed by Dr. Kate Dahlstrom and Dr. Tara Ney under the direction of the British Columbia Institute of Technology, with support from WorkSafe BC and the Construction Industry
Training Institute. Funding for the development and production of the resource was made possible through a financial contribution from Health Canada. ActNow BC, through a separate program with the BC Healthy Living Alliance provided further funding for the piloting of the materials at six BC post-secondary institutions.
