BODY WORLDS 3 Partners with the BC Lung Association to Launch ‘I Quit’ Initiative
Vancouver, B.C – November 23, 2006 - Not content to merely offer visitors the opportunity to view striking comparisons of healthy lungs and those damaged by years of smoking BODY WORLDS 3 will launch the ‘I Quit’ initiative — a smoking cessation program in partnership with the BC Lung Association, BC Cancer Agency and The Yul Brynner Foundation – on December 1st as people start thinking about making a New Year’s Resolution.
Presented throughout the month of December, I Quit features an inspirational multimedia smoking cessation program that includes the memorable PSA by the late Mr. Brynner, pledge cards for visitors intending to give up smoking, a repository where visitors can leave their last packs of cigarettes, and take home information about smoking.
In it’s effort to reach BC residents with the I Quit appeal, BODY WORLDS has partnered with the BC Lung Association to ensure that visitors who accept the challenge have the information and support they need to succeed.
The BC Lung Association works to educate parents and youth on the dangers of tobacco and second-hand smoke, advocates for stronger legislation on second-hand smoke and offers support to people who want to quit smoking. QuitNow is a smoking cessation program operated by the BC Lung Association, funded by the BC Ministry of Health and offered FREE of charge to all British Columbians.
“Quitting smoking is the single most important thing you can do to improve your health. British Columbians who quit significantly reduce their risk for heart disease, stroke, cancer and chronic lung disease while improving quality of life for themselves and their loved ones. 85% of British Columbians are already smoke-free, which is good news, but we are still working to influence the 15% who are not,” said Veda Peters, BC Lung Association Tobacco education spokesperson, “Working with Body Worlds as part of their I Quit initiative is another positive way to encourage and support British Columbians trying to quit.”
