Sign up with quitnow.ca before January 21, 2012 and commit to a quit date no later than February 21, 2012 and you will be entered to win an iPad2 or one of five runners-up $100 Save-On Foods Pharmacy gift certificates in an online contest organized by the BC Lung Association.

“Seven out of 10 smokers want to stop smoking and most don’t know they can double their chances of quit success by making use of proven tools and supports,” says BC Lung Association Board Chair Muff Hackett.

“To help motivate quit ready British Columbians to commit to quit we decided to hold an online contest during National Non-Smoking Week.”

The contest serves to encourage individuals to quit smoking while at the same time informing them about our free services available year-round through QuitNow,” added Hackett.

Note: To be eligible for the contest you must be a BC resident and 19 years or older on or before the day of the prize draw, January 23, 2012, and commit to a quit date on or before February 21st at 11:59PM PST.

About QuitNow Services
QuitNow Services (www.quitnow.ca) is a centralized, quit smoking resource managed by the BC Lung Association and made available free-of-charge through grant funding provided by the BC Ministry of Health. National Non-Smoking Week 2012 – January 15 to 21st
Established in 1977, National Non-Smoking Week has been observed for more than 30 years. It is one of the longest running in Canada’s ongoing public health education efforts.

Its goals are:

  • to educate Canadians about the dangers of smoking;
  • to prevent people who do not smoke from beginning to smoke and becoming addicted to tobacco;
  • to help people quit smoking;
  • to promote the right of individuals to breathe air unpolluted by tobacco smoke;
  • to denormalize the tobacco industry, tobacco industry marketing practices, tobacco products, and tobacco use; and
  • to assist in the attainment of a smoke-free society in Canada.
