The BC Lung Association's 23rd Annual Bicycle Trek for Life and Breath united some 400 cycling enthusiasts and event volunteers September 8th and 9th, 2007, to raise funds for vital lung health research, programs and clean air initiatives.
The 2-day, 200km ride throught the Fraser Valley was everything a Bike Trek should be: beautiful, challenging and in the end, very rewarding. Cyclists shared laughs, foged friendships and reached personal goals - while riding for a cause they believe in.
"Bicycle Trek for Life and Breath means different things to different people. It's a fundraiser for a good cause; a way for businesses to promote lung health and clean air; or a tribute to friends and family who have lived with, and in many cases died from lung disease," says Jessa Blades, Event Coordinator.
This year's event raised more than $350,000, contributing to the total $4 million raised during the event's 23-year lifespan. Our thanks to everyone who came together to pay tribute, have fun and raise funds.
"With so much support, it's easy to see how Bike Trek continues to be so successful. This year our youngest 'Trekker' is 14 and our oldest 77 years of age. They're a true inspiration. While Bike Trek is not a bike race, there's no question, for most, it is a challenging ride, and witnessing healthy people of all ages put their lung capacity to the test in support of a good cause is really something," continued Blades.
