Tuberculosis

The Union - North American Region

2008 Travel Awards

Every year travel awards are offered to enable investigators, clinicians, trainees and program managers working in the field of TB globally to attend this The Union - North American Region (the Union) meeting, where they can present their work, and promote new collaborations through contacts made at the Meeting.

Download an invitation to the Spirit of the 60s party in San Diego on February 28, 2008, to help raise funds for travel awards to the 2009 Meeting of the The Union - North American Region - North American Region.

Changes in 2008

In the past, applicants have been asked to submit an abstract.  Approval has been based on the quality of the abstract and the need. This year this meeting will be held jointly with the California Tuberculosis Controllers Association (CTCA).

Note: The CTCA are also offering travel grants for participants who wish to attend both meetings. Further information on this award is available at www.ctca.org.

Due to reduced funding, we are only accepting applicants from North, Central and South America, including the Caribbean.  In addition to accepting applications accompanied by abstracts, we are soliciting applications from other colleagues working in TB programs, organizations or projects in this hemisphere, even though they may not be in a position to submit an abstract.  Please refer to the:

IMPORTANT: Deadline for travel grant applications is November 15, 2007.

Your Travel Grant Recommendations

This year we are also asking for your recommendations for such travel award applicants from a TB program, organization or project with which you are associated, especially in a high burden country in this hemisphere, for whom you could write a letter of recommendation.

Please pass this information on to everyone you know, especially to principal investigators, who may be affiliated with or working in such a TB program, organization or project.

We appreciate your assistance in extending this opportunity to a new group of colleagues who will benefit from attendance at our meeting.
