25th Anniversary Bicycle Trek for Life and Breath

The 25th Anniversary Bicycle Trek for Life & Breath united over 450 cycling enthusiasts, event volunteers, staff and supporters for the biggest and best turnout of the event's 25 year history. Cyclists saddled up for a 2-day, 200km bike ride though the beautiful Fraser Valley on September 12 and 13th to raise funds for vital lung health research, programs and air quality initiatives.
The event has raised well over $$375,000 in 2009, contributing to the more than $4.5 million raised during the event’s 25 year history.
Event coordinator Marissa McFadyen says she is continually amazed by the effort put forth by everyone involved, "Without the dedication and enthusiasm of donors, sponsors, volunteers and staff members Trek would have never made it past its first year. It is because of the unparalleled dedication of each and every person involved in the event that Trek has managed not only to sustain itself but also grow into such an incredible event over the past 25 years. Our sincerest thanks to all those who came together to pay tribute, have fun and raise funds for the programs that we to and lend their support to people living with breathing problems.”
Trek Fundraising Deadline, Wrap Party & Photo Contest
Post-event fundraising continues until October 13, 2009. Event organizers remind Trekkers of both the many fundraising incentive prizes that can still to be won as well as the upcoming Trek Wrap Party in November 2009.

To celebrate the launch of the official BC Lung Association Facebook Fan Page and the 25th Anniversary of the Bicycle Trek for Life & Breath we are hosting an online photo contest!
Upload your best Trek photo from the past 25 years to this event page for a chance to win a fabulous prize: A Flip Video Camcorder!
If you are not on Facebook do not worry you can still enter! Email your photo to trek@bc.lung.ca and we will upload it for you!

CONTEST RULES
Eligibility: The contest is open to all 2009 registered Trek participants and volunteers.
Deadline for Entry: Entries must be uploaded by midnight November 13, 2009.
Submissions: Limit one (1) photo per entrant. YOUR NAME must be typed into the caption box when uploading your photo on to the 25 Years of Trek Photo Contest Event Page.
Judging: The top ten (10) photos will be selected by the BC Lung Association events team and the winner will be announced at the Trek wind up party on November 21 2009.
Notification: Winners will be notified at the Trek wind up party on November 21 2009 if present and/or by email by Monday November 23 2009.
Rights: All winning entries will become the property of the Lung Association for promotional and advertising purposes without payment or notification. Winners agree to the use of their name(s) and photograph, if required.
