Cycling enthusiasts and volunteers of all ages came together on September 6 and 7, 2014 to hit the road in the name of lung health for the 30th year in a row - and it was AWESOME!
Our cornerstrone yearly fundraiser, the Bicylcle Trek for Life and Breath is a fully-supported, 200 km ride from White Rock to Cultus Lake and back. This year more than 350 cyclists and volunteers took part, helping to celebrate our 30th annual Trek event and raising more than $250,000 as of event day. (Post-event fundraising will continue to October 1, 2014 and organizers are confident Trekkers will surpass the $275,000 goal).
Kate Jarvis, Event Coordinator for the BC Lung Association said, “People of all ages from all walks of life take it upon themselves to volunteer and raise funds in support of lung health through the BC Lung Association. More important than anything else is the genuine care and effort everyone puts in – participants and volunteers alike. Trek is like a family reunion that keeps on growing. Some participants have been coming for years. It may not be surrounded by the same fanfare as other large charity events – but that’s precisely why it’s so special. Each and every Trekker has a story which drove them to show up and ride in the first place – and it’s these stories that give the work we do true meaning.”
